Alumni of Beaver Area High School announced today that they’ve finally reached their fund-raising goal of $1,500,000 to erect a massive flagpole in the middle of the district’s football field.
Former class presidents of the school stretching back nearly 75 years are scheduled to gather in secret sometime this month to vote on what flag should be flown on top of the new pole, which is set to start construction next spring.
Rumors from some of the elder presidents are that consensus has begun to build for the flag of Sweden because “It’s a cross and we love Baby Jesus.”
No word yet from the High School’s coach on how a flagpole in the middle of the football field might effect future games.
In other news, the Beaver School Board is scheduled to vote next week on whether to change the school’s official mascot from a bobcat to a fish.
